The Leonberger is not a particularly easy-to-have-dog. On the other hand it's a very nice family dog because of it's toughness and kind temper. Therefore there has been some need of a complete guide to the breed for several years, but no books have been available in Swedish.
A couple of years ago the authors of this book started to do what they had dreamed
about for so long.
The result was a book with 300 pages and over 200 pictures, half the book is about the
breed in general, it's character, the important chapter of the standard based entirely on
the newest FCI standard's, illustrated with drawings and photos.
After that we deal with how to choose a pup, what to think of before buying a pup, how to
best care for your pup and your grown dog as well as what to do together with it and how
to train it. General dog health and more specific sicknesses/ailments, breeding and
rearing pups. In short everything you need to know!
So far the book is pretty much alike almost any dogbook but the last part is unique more
than just being a special leobook: it contains the complete history of the breed, in
Germany of course but also in Sweden and the other Scandinavian countries from scratch
until 1995. Last of all we have a part about the breed in every country where they exist..
Everything richly illustrated with photos in colour and b/w of beautiful and in the
breed important dogs.
