Restoring a Mini
Adding to the story in the link, I have left the Mini standing in the garage for three years doing nothing to it at all! I managed to get started again recently and have done (almost) the engine (998 cc).
What's left is joining the engine and the gearbox, as they form one unit.
This will be done in about two weeks time.
Next step is the bodywork, which includes putting on new wings and some other small bits,
overhauling the brakes and the suspension. The suspension is the strange "Hydrolastic suspension"
which was an invention by Alec Issigonis, the designer of the Mini.
Anybody have a nice description on how the Hydrolastic works?
